Britney Kaufman, PA-C, SDPA Physician Assistant in Dermatology Diplomate Fellow, SDPA

I grew up in a small town in northern California where my exposure to the outside world was what many would say, slightly stunted. My father worked as an emergency room physician and my mother a neonatal RN. At the age of 17 I lost my father to breast cancer and it was this that fueled my desire to expand my understanding of human beings, from all walks of life. While studying psychology at the University of California Santa Barbara, my passion for working with people on a one on one basis was solidified but my decided career path was still afloat. After graduating I set off on a yearlong back-packing journey which began in Argentina and ended in Costa Rica. While on this solo journey I was exposed to a plethora of different societies and began understanding the world I live in along with myself quite a bit better. After meeting a traveling physician assistant, my future goals were immediately realized. But prior to heading home, I happened to find my future husband in Peru, although from Redlands CA, one might say I traveled the distance to fall in love. After eight years together we now have two busy but beautiful boys and a history that we still giggle about in amazement.

During these last eight years I had the honor of attending Loma Linda University where I obtained my masters in Physician Assistant Sciences. I knew right away that it was the study of dermatology that stole my heart and I have now been practicing for over 4 years. It is the fact that I can make such a phenomenal impact on somebody’s quality of life and love for themselves that continues to keep me motivated and loving the area of medicine with which I work. I feel incredibly blessed to be in the place I am and I will continue to put forth all the energy and passion I have for dermatology (and life) into my patients and their loved ones.
